Grape Seed Oil - A Terrific Carrier Oil!
If you've been looking at either organic essential oils or grape seed oil, you're probably come across the term "carrier oil". A carrier oil is an oil that you can use to dilute an essential oil when you're applying it to your skin. Essential oils are absorbed very quickly by your skin, but sometimes you need to slow the absorption down or you'll have some temporary skin irritation or burning, depending on the oil. Many essential oils are just fine to use straight.
A lot of people like to use grape seed oil because first of all - it's a great moisturizer. Even if you have very sensitive skin, you'll find that you won't have any allergic reaction to this oil at all. It makes a nice massage oil, it's easily absorbed by the skin and won't leave you with that greasy feeling.
And You Can Eat It Too!
Herbalife is a unique company that has nutritional supplements that include herbs - and they often speak about "inner nutrition" and "outer nutrition" - referring to our diet and our skin care.
This oil works for both. Although it's not the best oil for cooking (it'll start smoking at a fairly low temperature), it's great for your salad dressings and mayonnaise. It's a healthy oil because it's high in polyunsaturated fat, it has Vitamins D and E, it's a good antioxidant which means that it helps to protect your cells and keep them from being broken down and damaged, which in turn reduces signs of aging (which is a good thing, right?) According to Wikipedia1, a study in 1993 says that this oil even helps to lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol.
Grape seed oil is also an "astringent" which means that it tightens and firms up your skin - good to use on your face - well - I guess good to use anywhere!
Grape seed oil is one of the ingredients in the V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Complex Oil
from Young Living. It's a terrific carrier oil that you can use by itself for a massage, or you can enhance it yourself by adding certain organic essential oils to it. You can create your own personal massage oil blend that will suit you perfectly.
When you're applying it directly to your skin, blend 1 drop essential oil in 1-8 tsps. of the V-6™. Or you can put the V-6 on your skin before you apply the essential oils. When you want a larger amount for a massage, you can add 15-30 drops of oil to 1/8-1/4 cup of V-6™.
Note that stronger oils, such as cinnamon, clove, peppermint, thyme, oregano, etc., need to be diluted more than gentler oils such as spruce, fennel, sage, etc.
This V-6 has it all! It nourishes the skin, has a long shelf life, won't clog your pores, and it won't stain your clothes either. For your own V-6 Enhanced carrier oil
